Drapery either works with a room or argues with it. Where the rod goes. How far the panels stack back when they are open. How much wall they take up doing it. Those are the decisions that make a room feel taller and finished instead of just covered.

She works them out standing in the room, at the hour the light matters most to you. Your north-facing sitting room and your west-facing dining room want different weights and different linings, even if the windows are identical.

What the fabric will actually do

Fabric comes from Schumacher and the other lines Amy represents, and she chooses it for how it behaves rather than how it photographs. A linen that is gorgeous flat can fall like a wet towel at length. A pattern you love in the hand can disappear the moment it is gathered. Knowing that ahead of time is most of the job.

Lining gets settled in the same conversation. Interlining adds weight and makes a lighter fabric hang like a heavier one. Blackout belongs in bedrooms. A sun-facing room needs protection from fade. These are the choices that decide whether your drapery still looks right in five years.

Pleats, hardware, and trim

Pleat style sets the character. Euro pleats read cleaner and more current. French pleats hold a deeper fold and lean traditional. Ripplefold moves as one continuous wave, which suits a wide contemporary span.

Hardware gets chosen alongside the fabric, never after, because bracket projection and return decide how the finished panel sits against your wall. Then the trim, which is her favorite part. A contrast band down a leading edge. A return that closes tight to the frame so no light sneaks around the side.

She makes it and she hangs it

Nothing goes out to a workroom that never saw your room, and nobody hangs it who was not part of the decisions. On installation day Amy dresses and trains every fold by hand so the panels fall correctly from the start.

The hem hangs level. The pattern matches across panels. The stack clears the glass. None of it announces itself, and you will notice all of it.
